Boissevain

Km 330

Good times, Boissevain. I found your buildings and the prospect of a $35 hotel room more enticing than the murals, but then my light was fading and, you know, that's just my style.

Hot AND Cold water towers? Really? It must be a hoax.

Land titles office building:

49ish ford

I'm guessing kids maybe climb this roof. And by kids I mean toddlers.

Unfortunately not the hottest nightclub in town:

Mmmm, highway lunch:

Ninga

Km 316

Chillin' in lovely Ninga:

Street scene: yep that's a stock car and some kind of a gator thing in the middle of the road.
Sweet house!

It gets better:

The streets were swarming with young people on motorcycles. For reals. I think I was the only person over 25 in town...

Awesome! Thank you, Ninga. That was a swell detour. These are the roads I should be taking and the places I should be seeing.

Prairie monolithics:

Raining again pretty good now so not a lot of picturechances.

Lake Killarney:

I did not see any pelicans, though I understand they maintain a formidable presence here...

Clearwater and Mather

Km 240

Near Clearwater:

Another shot:

What I liked best about Mather was how the United church had a big honkin loudspeaker pointed directly at the Mennonite church across the street:

Crystal City

It is neither crystal nor a city. I recall being disappointed as a child.

It's no city but they do have urban roots:

Seen these little guys a million times, never been in one.

Ski hills in the background.

Carman

Km 102

Goodbye hwy 3. I love you, hwy 245! I welcome the rolling hills. Looks a bit like rain out there ahead. Oh wells. :)

I'd have stopped in carman, it's a pretty little town. Need to keep the pets in mind, don't want to keep them in the car overlong.

Sperling

I've driven by here a million times but I only drove through once. There used to be this old church that was converted to living and art space. It's still here. Not sure if the gallery is still up and running, there was a gravestone that said "RIP Gallery 1993-2000something".

"The leaky cauldron"

I'd love to have one of these:

Also lots of interesting junk to look at. I don't know what the heck these are but they sure are blue and huge.

Another:

Okeydokey moving on then!

Leaving, late as always

Almost two hours past my max projected leave time. Yup. That's how it goes. Also, forgot the iPod transmitter in the Taurus so back to the rental place on the way out of the city. Going though! :)

The plan is to hit Manitou, drop off the pets and then head west. I'm headed for the border.

The car

Not what I wanted, but that's how it goes sometimes. Was hoping to pull some decent fuel economy numbers. I guess we'll see... It's a 6cyl auto... Impala. I don't know what year even and I don't really care :p
